Daniel Huntley Solon is a playwright and activist living and working in New York City. He attended the University of Texas, Austin where he majored in English composition and studied play-writing under John Walch, Suzan Zeder, and Lisa Peschel.
In October of 2005 he joined the Campaign to End AIDS, a grassroots activist movement intended to demand an increase in federal AIDS funding including a 21 day march from Times Square, NYC to the White House, Washington DC. He continues to work as an advocate for the homeless, the gay community and to secure the preservation of inalienable and civil rights.
His plays range in style from the farcical play of manners, As Sarah Enters the Room to the taut, contemporary, political banter of Icarus: On Ice, the Southern modernist lilt of Hating Jesus to the neo-structuralist suggestion of The Womyning of Darcy O'Toole.
Daniel lives in Brooklyn with his cat of 16 years, Mel. When not writing, Daniel can be found cavorting with New York’s Downtown burlesque and gay hip-hop performers.
